Finding out that you’re pregnant is one of the most memorable moments of your life. The first few weeks are filled with excitement and inquisitiveness but the 12 week pregnancy scan can feel like an age away.

Medison Imaging’s private early pregnancy ultrasound scan from 6 weeks pregnant provides you with a window to viewing your baby providing reassurance and comfort in the early stages of your first trimester.

From 6 weeks pregnant, we can assess the viability of the pregnancy viewing your baby’s heartbeat.

At your private early pregnancy scan you can also gain insight into how many weeks pregnant you are, and how well everything is progressing.

If you’re experiencing any bleeding or unusual pain, an early pregnancy scan can help provide you with peace of mind and find out for certain how your pregnancy is progressing. When you come for your scan at Medison Imaging, we’ll make sure that you feel comfortable, relaxed and well prepared for the experience.

What preparation do I need for this scan?

  • A full bladder may be required for the early pregnancy scan therefore please drink 1 litre of fluid approximately 1.5 hours before your scheduled appointment and please try your best not to empty your bladder before the examination. An internal scan may also be required for this service.

  • Please bring along any information / medical notes / reports which are in relation to the pregnancy as they may provide useful information for the scan.

Why choose us?

The experience on your journey through our service is our priority, providing a relaxing, informative and window into the world of your pregnancy. This is enabled with the latest ultrasound imaging technology and experienced expert sonographer’s with proven high quality imaging protocols, pathways and procedures in place. We are trusted by GP’s, doctors, physiotherapists, midwifes and many other healthcare professionals.

Furthermore we currently provide services to large national organisations and unlike other many other diagnostic clinics provide services to specific NHS organisations which require us to have in place extremely strict quality control measures.

Who will I see?

You will be cared for by a small team and seen by a specialist healthcare professional who has proven experience and specialises in clinical medical ultrasound. Unlike other diagnostic imaging ultrasound is “real time” imaging and the quality of the scan and ultimately the information you take away depends upon the expertise, experience  & skill of the person scanning you. This is an important point for consideration hence why at Medison Imaging you will always be seen by an expert who has vast expertise and experience in the field of medical ultrasound.

What is Ultrasound?

An ultrasound scan is a painless test that allows live imaging of the inside of the body by using high frequency sound waves which are ‘reflected’ back to the probe from within the body.

Unlike other imaging such as CT, ultrasound does not involve radiation and is in real time enabling live imaging a video of sorts. The Sonographer then interprets the scan and produces a diagnostic report.

Ultrasound has many applications not only for pregnancy but is used for a wide range of examinations and is an invaluable tool in professional hands.  However as with any test, ultrasound scans have limitations and like any test can not diagnose every problem.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Sometimes at the early scan, we may not detect the heartbeat or visualise the fetus on the screen. In instances where we’re unable to do so, this may simply be because it’s too early for the ultrasound to be conducted successfully or could indicate that a miscarriage has occurred. In the event of this happening, we’d advise that you arrange for a follow-up scan at a later date, which can be arranged at Medison Imaging.

  • Please bring your pregnancy book / previous scan results to your appointment.

  • We will require details of your GP / Health Care Professional; this will be requested from you prior to or at the time of your scan.

  • This scan may involve internal scanning.
